Places to visit

I’m starting a section on the places we visited during the 365 day nature play challenge (and before) which have helped us to play outside in the natural world. I’ve included a few which we haven’t been to recently as B is a bit too old now so they might be a little out of date. Most are in South Wales near where we live. Some are further afield as they’re near relatives or regular summer holiday destinations.

Visiting the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean with kids

Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean have some really wonderful locations for kids. It’s one of our favourite areas for day trips and short holidays. Here are all the places we’d recommend.

British Bird of Prey Centre outside flying arena

The British Bird of Prey Centre

An inspiring place and a great way to find out more about British birds of prey and begin to interact with them.

B and grandma at Mountain View Ranch

Mountain View Ranch

Not in the challenge but regularly visited beforehand. Near Cardiff and the M4, it’s a great place to get kids discovering a natural environment and finding it’s a source of fun and wonder.

Getting kids interacting with the natural world in London

We spent a lot of time during the 365 day nature play challenge working out good places to go which offered the best nature interactions. Here’s some thoughts and our list of favourite places and activities.
